Abby had her last day of school today, followed by an all school picnic in the park. The girls have a fancy two sided picnic basket that they use for 'pretend picnics'... it's a real wicker picnic basket, but it's only used for their toys. Abby INSISTED that our lunch be packed in that, so off we headed to the park like little red riding hood :)
Everyone had a great time, the parents all mingled and the kids all played. Abby has grown so much with this school. It really does seem like yesterday that she started there, but it's been two and a half years! Abby will move into kindergarten next year at a different school and Makenna will begin at Abby's old school. So there will be a changing of the guards kind of...
I am very excited to see Abby function in a 'normal' school and look forward to seeing how Makenna develops in the montessori school.
Today was a pretty hot day. Not as bad as it was supposed to be, but still hot. I looked at all the kids sweating, with their beat red faces and their sweat drenched hair. Her daughter is done with casting now and she gave us a 'cooling vest'. It's a pullover stretchy mesh top with velcro compartments for ice packs. I think it will definately be a staple for the summer. Never really knew how important it may be! Although Makenna didn't do much complaining, the minute - and I mean minute - we got in the car, she fell asleep! Out like a light...
